Acids

In order to start with let us start with the answer to the question what is an acid ? An acid in a common usage is a substance that taste sour reacts with metals and carbonates. and has a ph less than 7.0 in its standard state. Examples for acids are Acetic acid, sulfuric acid etc.

Some properties of acids are as follows:
  • Acids tastes sour.
  • Acids have ability to change the color of litmus paper from blue to red.
  • Reacts with certain metals to produce gaseous H2
  • reacts with bases to form salt and water.

Sulfuric acid
Nitric acid
Nitroud acid
Carbonic acid
Hydrochloric acid
Citric acid etc.
